{ Mildred Pierce }
Did anyone else watch Mildred Pierce on HBO last night? Most of you know I'm a huge fan of classic movies as well as a huge Kate Winslet fan so I was giddy for this remake. Mildred Pierce is the story of a woman who turns herself into a business tycoon to win her selfish daughter, Veda, a place in society. HBO is presenting it as a mini series in five parts on Sunday nights starring Kate, Guy Pearce, and Evan Rachel Wood. If nothing else, tune in for the fabulous sets and costumes.

The original movie, based on a novel by James M. Cain, starred Joan Crawford and Ann Blyth. Joan won the Best Actress Academy Award in 1946 for the film. If you love classic films, it's a must see. My husband laughs at me because he says one day I will be curled up on the sofa with a glass of wine watching Mildred Pierce and the next day I will be sipping on a Dr. Pepper watching Sixteen Candles. I'm a woman of varied tastes. I know I've mentioned before that my first loves were Jon Bon Jovi and Gene Kelly. I also had a big crush on Matt Dillon and Cary Grant. How's that for crazy?
